Licensed Clinical Social Worker in McKinney TX

Hi I’m Carrie Wigginton and I recently relocated to Texas from Indiana.  My husband’s job brought us here and so far, we love it!

I have worked in the counseling and social work field for the last 18 years.  My past experience includes employment as a domestic violence counselor and advocate, a child protection worker, a targeted case manager and an in home therapist for children at risk for out of home placement.  I have provided clinical supervision and was clinical director over several offices.

I am a licensed clinical social worker who has provided in home services to children who were at risk for out of home placement at any time due to psychiatric hospitalization or removal by social services.   I also worked with those who were in out of home placement with social services.  I worked with the children and their families to secure a safe environment for them to return home to.   I feel that this experience prepared me to deal with a wide array of issues that children face including depression, anxiety, grief, maladaptive behavior, trauma related issues (due to abuse and/or neglect) and attachment disorders.  I understand their needs and use this knowledge to meet them where they are so that they and their families can make progress towards healing.

I provide individual and family counseling services to adults, adolescents, and children.  I hope to provide a safe and comfortable environment where you don’t feel judged and you can feel free to explore the thoughts and feelings which may be contributing to the ongoing issues in your life at the moment.  I also hope that you will reach the end of your counseling experience feeling happy, satisfied and ready for what lies ahead.

I practice a variety of counseling approaches such as Solution Focused, Cognitive Behavioral, and Humanistic approaches.  I believe that each client is different and will tailor my treatment approach and plan based on what the client needs are.

Therapy is a collaboration between the client and the therapist.  There is mutual respect and there is trust.  I look forward to collaborating with you.
