Licensed Professional Counselor McKinney, TX
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I completed an extensive training in Marriage and Family Therapy, Play Therapy, Sand Tray, and Exposure Therapy. I enjoy working with children, individuals, couples, and families from a variety of backgrounds and concerns. I practice using pragmatic approach and incorporating a variety of therapeutic techniques when working with clients and families to help them find their own meanings and cultivate self-acceptance.
I have always been intrigued by human behaviors since I was a very young age. I am a firm believer that we are the product of our environment and every individual comes with his/her own unique experience. Though human nature is innately good, environment and experiences shape their behaviors. Hence, with every learned behavior, we can optimally unlearn with consistent and persistent. Nothing is impossible!
I’m an immigrant. I’m bilingual, fluent in both English and Vietnamese. I’m well aware of the struggles and challenges most immigrants faces. I learned that I have the power to change and I decided to pursue my American dream to obtain my Bachelor in Psychology and continued on to acquire a Master of Education in Guidance and Counseling. I am blessed to able to witness and learn the best parts of both cultures. Therefore, I can help clients with different culture backgrounds with the process of assimilation less challenges.
With a 20-year marriage and a mother of two, I understand the important of family cohesion, communication, and conflict resolution. Women often feel trapped after having children, leaving them with the responsibilities of a house wife, where as men are expected to be the main breadwinner. Often time, finance can be the biggest sources of stress and marital conflict. I can help clients to get out of debt and regain financial control.
Through struggles, we’ll find strengths to rise above and beyond. Let’s break the cycle and make the necessary changes to achieve a well-balanced, happy life. I’m honored to be able to work collaboratively beside you and to assist you find your own meanings in life!
