CHILD THERAPY IN MCKINNEY TX
CHILD COUNSELING
Counseling for young children and young people varies from adult psychotherapy in the fact both the children and their families need additional guidance to understand and discuss complex emotions and behavior both in the child’s mind and the adult’s world.
Our child psychologists are trained to take in account multiple variables such as the child’s age, specific difficulties, development issues, family life, and other circumstances that influence children.
Additional child therapy techniques such as play therapy, art therapy, and sand tray therapy may be applied to help young children to express their insights and emotions.
Child counseling may be one-on-one time with the child or together with family members.
Older Children may prefer to simply talk and feel like they are heard and understood. Sometimes older children may also enjoy a combination of activities and talking.
The objective of Child Counseling is to help children build up a positive outlook, better identify their emotions and why they feel the way they do, and how to handle emotions appropriately.
