April Clemons
Individual Therapist In McKinney TX
Hi! My name is April Clemons, M.A., and I am currently an LPC-A under the supervision of Erika Saldivar, M.Ed., LPC-S.
Play is children’s natural language, so I use child-centered play therapy to help facilitate healing and change. I specialize in supporting neurodiverse and neurotypical children who are experiencing issues such as anxiety, panic, grief, and stress. I strive to create an environment that fosters understanding and emotional well-being.
I graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Child and Family Development, graduating magna cum laude, and a Master of Arts in Community Counseling with a focus in children’s counseling.
I have dedicated my career to empowering children and families through compassionate support and tailored interventions. I began as a preschool teacher working in the Head Start program. I completed an internship at Genesis Women’s Shelter and then worked as the children and teen counselor at Family Place Community Outreach. Following my time at Family Place, I focused on early childhood development and education and was a daycare owner and director for over a decade. During that time, I gained a deep understanding of child development, behavior management, and the unique challenges children and families face.
My extensive background has equipped me with empathy, expertise, and a particular understanding of parenting dynamics, making me a dedicated advocate for both children and their families on their journey toward healing and growth.
