Hello, my name is Jamaica Reyes-Araujo, and I am a bilingual (English/Spanish) Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 18 years of experience in mental health settings. My career began at the Department of Veteran’s Affairs Behavioral Health Clinic in El Paso, Texas via field practicum, working with veterans diagnosed with PTSD.

After completing my Master’s of Social Work Degree in 2003, I moved to Houston, Texas and had the opportunity to work at the Department of Veteran’s Affairs Vet Center where I worked with Military Sexual Trauma Survivors and provided readjustment counseling and therapy to combat Veterans and their families.

Other settings I have worked at include the Houston Area Women’s Center, Hospitals, Community Mental Health Clinics, and Public Schools. Since relocating to the Dallas area, my most recent experience includes working from 2013-2021 at various campuses within Dallas ISD. While at Dallas ISD, I had the opportunity to work with recently arrived immigrant children and families; LGBTQ+ youth; and an array of crisis response and interventions for mental health issues, and self- harming behaviors. Additionally, as part of a crisis response team, I gained valuable experience responding to unexpected
grief and loss across different grade levels and school settings.

Some of my areas of practice include working with survivors of physical, verbal, emotional and sexual abuse; youth and adolescent mental health issues, self-harm, school refusal, women and girls on the Autism Spectrum, and Mood and Anxiety Disorders. Modalities I use in my practice are Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, and play therapy. Additionally, I am a licensed Texas board-approved Supervisor for LMSW’s wanting to attain their LCSW.
