Professional Counselor- Associate, In McKinney TX

Hi. My name is Shante. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor- Associate. I received my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of North Texas. During my downtime, I enjoy spending time with my family and cooking.

Let’s be honest here. Life is stressful sometimes and even though I am a counselor, I am not immune from it. I have been where you are. Stress can sometimes look unmanageable, but with the right tools set in place, it is manageable. Whether you are driving in traffic, and somebody cuts you off or you have problems at work, we all encounter it daily. Counseling is not an easy decision to make, but its impact is monumental. One of the words that typically comes up when people think of counseling is vulnerability. It can be scary to be honest and open, but I am a proponent of making sure we move at your pace. Life can often feel like a time crunch or a race, and it is easy to get overwhelmed. My goal is to help you through it.

My theories consist of being Person-Centered with an integrative approach using Adlerian theory. I believe in providing a safe space for individuals to come as they are and receive the help they need. I believe that we all have a purpose in life. It is something that makes everyone unique. When life often feels like a downward spiral or a roller coaster full of twists and turns, you can count on me to implement a positive, nonbiased environment full of compassion and patience. I am here for you.
My experiences include working with children, adolescents, and adults. I have conducted group and play therapy services. My areas of specialties include autism, anxiety, depression, grief, spirituality, self-esteem, trauma, and ADHD.

Throughout my graduate program, I learned the importance of advocating for my clients. I believe it is important to know that you have a voice and you have the power to choose who you want to be.
